The yellow-earth quarries of Roussillon are strong famous but those of Rustrel are too and merit the detour. These old careers lodge 25 different colors. The site is maintained by the owners who thus arranged carparks but also marked out various courses; small walks, long walks, it is to you to see the time you will wish to spend in these places. For us, it took 4 hours, including the hour for the meal at the ride of a singular cascade. The lasted precision, but has its importance, leave your beautiful Sunday clothes in the cupboard. Prefer older behaviour, the ochre dirties easily, particulary the so white sport shoes ! Durind this Saturday of April, the mistral is blowing in the valley of the Durance. To take shelter, we must choose a trek more in the east, sheltered by the Vaucluse mounts. The provençal Colorado is then a favourable place. Let's go to the “far-west”. When we arrived, we were welcomed in the parking ; small fees garage to pay and one extremely useful plan more to find yourself in the site for few euros more. The trek start since the parking of the thousand colors, on the road D22, and the place called "les cornets". 300 meter on the road then we reached the GR6. The uneven one is done at this moment. When going on the GR, we discover the circus of Barries (Be care of the falls ! ). Then, take the path marked out in green by a splendid way in the forest. The Barries circus shows an other face. We come down to use the white marked path by crossing the river of sand and to feel the sweet sensation to walk on a springly carpet. The sea sand is less thin than this dust of ochre. The circus appears, majestic, under a blue sky and a bright sun. Click, clac, the family photo and we go searching the falls which we had heard the soft murmur during the descent. We pass trough few surprising natural structurs, then are underwood and a little river. At its end, the small refreshing fall at the side of which we will be restored. Then, we retrace our steps so as to go to the white desert and to see a small chimney of fairy, as well as a tunnel which had to be exploited for the draining of the production. There is no exit but remains enought picturesque. After the white desert, it is the Sahara and its red sand which waits our feet. We go back to the green path for our crossing of the desert to reach at the Bouvene circus. Our arrival was welcome by a gust of wind which will start a mini sandstorm that gives us an idea of what could be a blow of sirocco. The trek is going to finish. A small aqueduct reminds that the water flew over here. It remains to see the more popular place snuffed of these parts with the chimneys of fairy which adorn a lot of tourist prospectus. He places have changed a lot in 15 years. Stears, balustrades ...! tourism is cherished around here or are the places protected from mankind ? That's it, back to the car to eat the pancake included in the price of the carpark (the 3 others won't be offered). Feel free to have a look at one of the slideshow and if you enjoy those places that much, you can choose one a them as screensaver. If you feel enthousiastic, you can show it by using the visitor's book, mails, vote... solutions are numerous ! |
